New Delhi : "There is always a way, if you are committed", great words by Tony Robins.
Our country, India, is an agro-based economy; approximately 60 percent of the population is into the agriculture sector, contributing about 18 per cent to India's GDP. This 60 per cent of the population consists of many financially weak but determined and dedicated farmers, the most important asset and backbone of our economy who feed the whole country irrespective of the situations and conditions that our country goes through.
We are here with a story of one such man, “Laungi Bhuiyan”, also known as “The CanalMan”, a 70 years old farmer, residing at Kothilawa village in Gaya district of Bihar. Kothilawa village is marked as a refuge for Maoists and is surrounded by dense forests and mountains. This village is somewhat 80 kilometres from Gaya district. People who belong to this area mainly depend on farming and animal husbandry.

Where, villagers have started to leave the place and migrate to the cities and other areas in search of a better way of earning. This dedicated man put all his effort into building a canal, single handledly. He has not doing this just for just his own benefit but for the sake of the entire area. He has dedicated his consistent effort for the last 30 years, a huge period of time. In an interview Laungi said, “It took me 30 years to dig this canal which takes the water to a pond in the village. For the last 30 years, I have been going to the nearby jungle to tend my cattle and dig out the canal. No one joined me in this endeavour… Villagers are going to cities to earn a livelihood but I decided to stay back”.  Further, Laungi said that he wants just a tractor so that he can dig more faster. Such a great initiative was opted by him single handedly, despite of criticism that he used to face, people of his village use to tell him that his efforts will contribute nothing to his dream and people thought he has gone mad as he didn't sound practical to them.

To this a twitter user twitted about Laungi Bhuyian tagging Anand Mahindra and he also said that Mahindra would feel honoured to gift the man a tractor.
His spirit was acknowledged and glorified by many news channels. He was also extolled by the people who got to know about the history he had created. He was commended by the chairman of Mahindra Group, Mr.Anand Mahidra on a social media platform, Twitter.  Mr.Mahindra also gave Laungi a Mahidra Tractor to show his gratitude to Laungi's effort. Mahindra also said, “To me, this humble canal is no less glorious than the pyramids or the Taj.”
